Venus in Leo

June 5th - October 8th, 2023 (Retrogrades July 22 - September 3rd, 2023)

I have a ludicrous but subjectively true theory that the majority of redheads are fire signs, but I’ll take it a step further to say the majority of that majority are Leos. Fire signs are vividly expressive and Leo is especially, unapologetically so. My other unscientific theory (and one I share with tons of astrologers) is that those with strong Leo placements are often known for their hair, or their “bona mane” as Lady Miss Kier says (Leo Sun & Venus). You simply cannot stop a Leo from putting themselves on display, especially a Leo Venus. There are quieter Leo Suns, even shy ones, who declare their boldness in less obvious ways, but a Venus in Leo seems to have magical powers to make even a cautious, highly sensitive Cancer Sun one of the most dazzling performers there ever was (as in the case of Bob Fosse or George Clinton). A Leo Venus can shake off some of the preciousness of a Virgo Sun’s precision with its lovable drama. This is evident in the case of Agnes De Mille who choreographed for Broadway in a playful style no one had seen before - a style she once described as “women kicking their legs up, as if delighted with themselves like kittens with warm milk on their whiskers.” She also, more potently and holistically, described dance with an ethos I could only ascribe to Venus in Leo: “To dance is to be out of yourself. Larger, more beautiful, more powerful. This is power, it is glory on earth and it is yours for the taking.”

Leo is ostentatious and oversized, slinky and feline, but it is much deeper than just validating the ego with public performance. Venus in Leo wants to create the image and the object with as much glowing, liquid force as the Sun. It is direct and uncomplicated in its mission to both shine itself and bask in your shine, too. I will belt my karaoke song, and cheer the loudest when you sing yours. It is the art that shows us the warmth and generosity which spills forth from a kind of individuality full to the brim with self esteem. It’s a reminder that we should be fearlessly proud of ourselves.

At this point, it shouldn’t be surprising this placement has been bestowed upon some of the biggest stars we’ve ever had – Madonna, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Andy Warhol, Selena Gomez, Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Gwyneth Paltrow, Coco Chanel, even Mother Teresa. . . and sooo many more, some of which I’ve included below :)

BUT FIRST!

With Venus retrograding for most of the summer, we’re all recalibrating our relationship to the Leo part of our chart (everyone has every sign in their chart)–where we’re not bright enough, and sometimes where we’re too bright. And if you want to learn more about all of this, including horoscopes, listen to my new podcast with Kristen Stegemoeller, Club Cosmos Radio! We go deep into detail on this and so many more topics every Friday. Available everywhere.

The memo outlined a new rule, which targeted Iverson so directly that it soon became known as the “A.I Rule”. Not only did it prohibit players from wearing sleeveless shirts, shorts, T-shirts, jerseys or sports apparel unless pre-approved, it also went on to disallow hats to be worn during games, interviews, or league events. Before games, players were urged to wear business casual clothing, and could not wear chains, pendants, medallions, sunglasses, or headphones while in the tunnel.”
